Note on walking times: the Luchs Trail is physically demanding. Depending on the stage, you’ll need to tackle up to 1,500 metres of elevation gain and loss, whilst the distances can easily exceed 20 kilometres. On some stages, all three of these maximum figures are nearly equal, meaning walking times of up to around 8 hours.
Walking times are calculated using the Outdooractive formula (Outdooractive is one of the world’s largest providers of tour information and the market leader in German-speaking countries). This includes brisk walking times, which correspond roughly to the average speed of a well-trained hill walker. Important: The figures given are walking times only; breaks must be added to these.
Appropriate physical preparation is strongly recommended. Our tip: As you’ll be on a multi-day tour, you should be able to complete similar day trips with ease. By the way, you can plan a rest day in between to give yourself a chance to recover.
