A wolf was recently spotted in the area covered by the third stage of the route, in the eastern Hallermauern. The animal, which originated in Italy, is thought to be a young wolf on a journey. Lynx do not usually prey on domestic animals, but wolves do – as the Grabneralm unfortunately discovered.
But don’t worry, the wolf poses no danger to walkers; it flees when it comes into contact with people.
